Steel, screws and bolts, lighting fixture

My work embodies those who have made mistakes and feel guilt, have been oppressed and felt weak, and have joy yet felt ashamed. Gender norm conformity can both hinder and aid. As a woman, I have taken my place and stayed quiet. I also have remained strong towards those around me. I carry much weight on my shoulders. I am more than just a mindless body. I emote.  I challenged myself in regards to scale with this work. By utilizing the metal to create an imposing figure, I was able to achieve both a harshness and a warmth from within.
