ART2310: Introduction to Art (for non-art majors)
Eastern Illinois University, Fall 2018 (one section) and Spring 2019 (two sections)
In this class, we moved through various techniques and subjects to show a range of making. Students in this course are fulfilling general humanities credits and are not art majors.

The first project demonstrates drawing tools and techniques learned through a blind contour, varied weight line drawing, and multiple shading techniques. Demonstrations for this project included: line drawing and sighting, shading techniques, texture rubbings, and matting and presentation.
The second project students worked with perspective by creating a landscape of five tints and shades then inserting five floating boxes into the landscape. Demonstrations for this project included: color theory, acrylic paint and mixing, watercolor and experimentation, and 1 and 2 point perspective drawing.
The third project involved portraiture while taking on the style of a well-known artist. Demonstrations for this project included: portraiture and grid drawing.
The fourth project constructed a functional object from Bristol board in oversized scale. Demonstrations for this project included: planning, preparation, and construction.
The fifth project dealt with abstracting observations in either iterations using multiple mediums or a linocut print that was further altered after the printing process. Demonstrations for this project included: abstraction through shape and color, and linocuts.
