Cast paper, acrylic paint, found persian rug

In search of language and identity, I went back to years’ worth of free-writings that had been shelved. After dictating them into a computer, I printed the documents, pulverized those papers, and cast the woman’s form with it from a mold made for multiple use previously. My words are no longer legible; the writing is only still within me. In the drying process, the form could not fully withstand the elements of its materiality. Instead of allowing those flaws to remain, gold acrylic was used to draw attention and resolve the piece. The figure is placed on a Persian rug to give context into my own mixed identity. We are all broken; we are all pieced together; sometimes many times over in our lives.
